The paper examines the legal aspects of artificial intelligence in public administration. The analysis focuses on the different dimensions of the law involved, on the peculiar problematic aspects deriving from the public context and on the protection of the rights to be guaranteed. The contribution examines some suitable tools for dealing with the main questions analyzed, outlining scenarios for legal and ethical use of artificial intelligence in the public sector.
