Abstract

“MàPoli-Bio (acronym for Multipurpose Organic Masseria): from production to consumption” is the result of a research aimed at investigating the building heritage represented by the farms within the Bari area. In particular, the farmhouse under study is located in Bari, in the San Paolo district, and represents an example of agricultural architecture that manages to establish a one-to-one and indissoluble relationship with the surrounding area. Along viale Europa, which leads to the district, there are numerous farms due to the very intense agricultural vocation of the area. The research aims to recover and re-enable the architectural identity of the farms in order to avoid the loss of an example of traditional life and, at the same time, of sustainability. Starting from the hopeful project of the New European Bauhaus, introduced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, in which the aim is to plan future ways of living, the desire to establish a relationship between nature and architecture was born. The New European Bauhaus aims to create a link between art, culture, beauty and science and technology. Hence, the idea of the open-air museum and the use of alternative technologies in order to change lives, minds and bad habits. In fact, the recovery of these architectural assets will make it possible to light a beacon of art and beauty on a district of the city considered to be a suburb.
