Forgotten Architectures: Palazzo Calenda in Picerno (Italy)

Redeveloping a building means to ascribe a new value to the originalone; we can do it starting from the knowledge of the configuration and building techniques, which produced the historical architecture, in order to bring about a dialogue between past and present where both realities support each other by a mutual improvement. This work deals with Palazzo Calenda in Picerno, analysed to Recognize and Re-assign the historical, artistic and cultural value it had. The purpose is to use an operating methodology that from the knowledge leads to the redevelopment by focussing on the preservation and improvement of features that made Palazzo Calenda recognizable over time. Avoiding to Re-invent and pervert the nature of the historical building, yet weaving together the subjects and techniques of redevelopment with those for the new one. During the redevelopment, the interior transformation came together with interventions aimed at preserving the existing one with a profitable delivery of old and modern in mind. This is the way to re-insert the old building in the contemporary life in town.
