This research is part of the studies and the project for theurban and environmental regeneration of the AncientKroton and the redevelopment of the former industrial site(Eni), focusing in particular on the tools that can be usedto mobilize and involve the properties of the soils, for theconsultation of the subjects concerned and the sharing ofthe objectives in the conversion project. This research aimsto deepen policies and processes aimed at the urban andenvironmental development and regeneration of the formerENI area, and parts of the city connected to it. The city ofCrotone has initiated and developed a policy of conversion,regeneration and enhancement of its cultural, environmentaland landscape heritage, in order to start a Cultural Revolution,as base for processes of social and economic development.That is the project for the promotion of ‘Old Kroton’ and theenvironmental, tourist and cultural system of Crotone andCapo Colonna. The case study will be structured through acareful comparative evaluation, supported by a more in-depthanalysis of good practices, in Italian and European contexts.The general theme relates to the research for cultural andcollective identity, which in this project must be a ‘journey ofknowledge’ based on the exploration of visible and invisibleplaces. The City of Crotone it is a strategic actor that candefine a new system of offering against the different targets ofcultural tourism, a choice defined as an alternative to the onealready experienced in the production and industrial field.
