This paper presents a method for carrying out integrated, multidimensional and multiscale digital survey as well as for undertaking an analysis of a local area in all its complexity. The method belongs to the Renaissance tradition of ‘measurement’, which has been updated using survey and investigative tools based on the latest technology. A concrete example of this method is presented regarding experimental study carried out in the Pompei area, which confirms the general validity of the research and defines a reference model which can be used in other contexts, either in its entirety or by means of the protocols adopted during specific parts of the research.

Abstract
