Recent seismic events have underscored the urgent need for rapidly assessing the seismic vulnerability of existing structures. This study validates the application of a simplified performance-based approach for evaluating the seismic performance of steel Moment Resisting Frames (MRFs). The proposed method was developed through an extensive parametric analysis involving 420 frames designed using three different approaches. Importantly, it can be readily employed in daily engineering practice without the need for complex static or dynamic nonlinear analyses. To assess the method's accuracy, incremental dynamic analyses (IDA) were conducted in addition to pushover analysis. The paper presents a comparison of capacity between the simplified methodology, regulatory guidelines, and IDA, aligning with current code-specified limit states to validate the procedure.
