Social transformations: The family as the fundamental nucleus for education in values

In this contribution we aim to highlight, in the light of the new social transform ations that have taken place in recent years, the role of today’s family in the upbringing of children and consequently in the formation of the future citizen. The first and complex hermeneutic question concerns family identity. The transformations taking place today in the structure of the family make it uncertain and difficult to define its physiognomy, which is increasingly heterogeneous in its composition, type, relational bonds, and ways of bringing up children. In considering the changes that have taken place in the family in recent decades, the need to develop training projects for parenting, as a resource and understanding of the emotional and relational problems that are created in the family, is emphasized. This is why we believe that family pedagogy can help us and represent a good opportunity to respond to the new challenges of parenthood.
