The architecture of the rural landscape represents a heritage of buildings and settlement structures with characteristics that express the unique features of the locations where they are found. These structures are a response to the housing needs of the local population and originate from the practical experience of the inhabitants, who, by developing cultural, social, and construction traditions based on the conditions of the surrounding nature and habitat, primarily use locally available materials and consider the site’s climate and geomorphology. Today, these architectures constitute a historical and architectural heritage and knowledge that must be preserved, protected, and enhanced as they testify to bioclimatic and sustainable architecture techniques, technologies, and strategies. The protection and enhancement of such assets can be effectively pursued through a series of actions supporting local development processes aimed at their cultural and tourist use. These strategies, also pursued by the Puglia region through numerous funding programs in line with the strategic scenarios of the regional territorial protection tools, are aimed at implementing a systematic action of knowledge, protection, and enhancement of historical rural buildings and the rural landscape. The main objectives are preserving the values of these landscapes through the protection and enhancement of material and immaterial cultural assets and the maintenance and restoration of the landscape quality of the sites; promoting the creation of initiatives and activities related to sustainable culturaltourism use, traditions, and local culture. In this context, the contribution illustrates some reuse and enhancement projects of rural constructions in the Puglia region. The interventions aim to enhance the assets by recovering the structures and surrounding areas for cultural and tourist use according to compatible uses. Based on the distinctive features of the landscape and the agricultural tradition, the project idea aims to create educational and recreational places dedicated to rural culture and tradition.

Abstract
Based on the distinctive features of the landscape and the agricultural tradition, the project idea aims to create educational and recreational places dedicated to rural culture and tradition.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
