Pharmacological treatments commonly used present several side effects, and this is driving people to search natural approaches. Olea europaea is currently investigated for its anti-diabetic potential. In particular, oleuropein (OLE), its main bioactive compound, have been demonstrated to exert interesting activities in management of T2DM, including hypoglycemic and antioxidant activities. The purpose of this manuscript is to review the available scientific evidence evaluating the role of OLE in managing T2DM.
