Dyslipidemias associated with endocrine disorders: a position statement of the working group of the nutrition hormones and metabolism club of the italian society of endocrinology (SIE)

Purpose: Dyslipidemias are highly prevalent metabolic disturbances and represent a major driver of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Beyond primary forms, numerous endocrine diseases induce secondary dyslipidemias that substantially modify lipid metabolism and contribute to cardiometabolic risk. This Position Statement of the Nutrition Hormones and Metabolism Club of the Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE) aims to provide an updated, evidence-based synthesis of the pathophysiology, b...

The Role of Echocardiography in the Assessment of Epicardial Adipose Tissue: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Background: Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is a metabolically active visceral fat depot implicated in cardiometabolic and cardiovascular (CV) disease. Although cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and cardiac computed tomography (cCT) enable accurate volumetric quantification of EAT, their cost, limited availability, and-particularly for cCT-radiation exposure, restrict their use in preventive and longitudinal settings. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is widely accessible and radiation-free...

Ultra-Processed Foods and Metabolic Dysfunction: Mechanisms, Clinical Implications, and Public Health Perspectives. Position Paper of the Italian Association of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition (ADI)

Purpose of review: This position paper by the Italian Association of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition (ADI) evaluates the impact of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) on metabolic health and chronic disease risk, with particular attention to the biological and behavioural mechanisms involved. Recent findings: High UPFs consumption has been associated with obesity, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), cancer, neuroinflammation,...

Motor Learning in the Ecological-Dynamic Approach: A Systematic Review

Motor learning is a central domain in sport science and physical education, involving dynamic interactions between perception, action and environment. In recent decades, ecological dynamics has emerged as a prominent framework for understanding skill acquisition, emphasizing perception–action coupling, constraint interaction and representative learning design. This narrative review critically examines the theoretical foundations and pedagogical implications of the ecological-dynamic approach ...
