STATISTICAL CORRELATION BETWEEN BALL RECOVERY AND OFFENSIVE DANGEROUSNESS INDEXES IN FOOTBALL: A SPECIFIC STUDY

the statistical correlation between the recovery of the ball into the opponent's half of the field and the offensive ability indexes of a football team can be assessed by means of appropriate research developed by computer platforms, capable of retrieving specific data. The analysis will be carried out after properly describing the reference parameters and reporting the offensive ability index, the shots on goal performed and the offensive opportunities created by a team when playing against another one, with the aim of considering the increase in offensive indexes as a result of a ball recovery action in the offensive zone. This correlation, through a simple linear regression, can fully express the percentages of goals realized in relation to the chances obtained by the teams, and allows the figure of the match analyst observing and obtaining significant data with respect to the study on the data related to the tactical attitude in football. More specifically, the study was carried out in the top series of the Italian football championship.
