This paper reflects on the usage of the emoticons in the contemporary communication (mostly by young people). It discusses their emotive and linguistic value within the pedagogical act, and considers the formative implications of their usage. The funda- mental question addressed here involves the educational flexure, and asks if the emoti- cons, digital expressions of a linguistic tachygraphy, may be embedded in the dynam- ics of an educational project without compromising the educative act consisting in the verbalization of the emotive universe.
