The Montessori pedagogical tradition grounds the current urgency to rethink personal well-being from a bio-psycho-social perspective, beginning with early childhood care in the family system: «if we prepare for the child an environment in the home that is appropriate to his size, his strengths, his psychic faculties, if we then let him live there freely, we will have taken a great step toward solving the educational problem in general, for we will have given the child his environment»

Nell’àmbito delle scienze umane è nota da tempo e condivisa, con postura multi-prospettica, la complessità quale categoria ermeneutica entro cui la post-modernità si qualifica. Le vicissitudini trasformative – e non sempre migliorative – della famiglia tradizionale hanno configurato il reticolo relazionale dell’attuale compagine familiare. In tale contesto, finanche il benessere delle persone travalica i confini antinomici tra salute e malattia e si complessifica nello scambio dinamico con il contesto. La tradizione pedagogica di matrice montessoriana fonda l’urgenza attuale di ripensare il benessere personale in chiave bio-psico-sociale, a partire dalla cura della prima infanzia nel sistema familiare: «se prepareremo al fanciullo un ambiente in casa che sia confacente alle sue dimensioni, alle sue forze, alle sue facoltà psichiche, se ve lo lasceremo poi vivere liberamente, avremo fatto un grande passo verso la soluzione del problema educativo in genere, poiché avremo dato al bambino il suo ambiente»
