Imbambolate e sanguigne: rosee cose di carne. Per una ricognizione sui personaggi femminili nel teatro di Rosso di San Secondo

1924 is the year of censure for Rosso di San Secondo’s play Una cosa di carne (A thing of flesh). In response to the censorship the author accompanies the drama by a Prelude with which he declares that whorehouses are normally accepted by society, therefore it’s ridicolous that is not accepted its fictional representation. The protagonist Micaela is a prostitute – the thing of flesh – but she is also a tridimensional human being that loves and desires to be a mother, instead the male charachter needs to label the women only like wife/mother or prostitute. However for the author Micaela is precisely made of flesh: neither an angel nor a devil, just human.

Il 1924 è, per Pier Maria Rosso di San Secondo, l’anno della censura. Il dramma proibito – il cui titolo, per potenza icastica, ha avuto una fortuna superiore all’opera stessa – avrebbe dovuto debuttare a luglio. Si tratta di Una cosa di carne, dramma o pochade secondo l’animo degli spettatori. Non riuscendo a “comprendere” la tridimensionalità dello spirito femminile, il maschio appone etichette, coniugando la sensualità ad un carattere predefinito, quello della prostituta, e la maternità ad altrettanto carattere, quello della moglie/madre, ma Rosso fonde entrambe le nature nei suoi personaggi, senza emettere giudizi.
