The work of W.E. Connolly constitutes a relevant and original development of the anthropocene theme: in criticizing the “sociocentric” models of political analysis of the events of the planetary age, Connolly proposes his theory on bumpy temporalities which, considering as “myth” the one of the graduality of natural becoming, criticizes the idea of agency as a uniquely human trait. The discovery of the Anthropocene is therefore the acceptance of the fact that man is one of the forces in the field, not the main one. This awareness changes everything, including the way of thinking and acting politics. Connolly therefore refers to mimetic theory in order to encourage the activism by disadvantaged of the Anthropocene, who bear the weight of the inequitable distribution of resources and the inequitable decision-making possibilities.
