The authors address contemporary ecomuseology, exploring the potential of ecomuseums as cultural, social and ecological devices capable of forging new connections between heritage, territory and community. Based on the research carried out by numerous scholars on today’s ecomuseums, their impact on local development is analysed. Among these impacts, the creation of economic opportunities derived from the increased attractiveness of places, due to the attention given to ecomuseums by local communities, is highlighted.
