Abstract: This article aims to justify the disappearance of the dedication to Ramiro de Maeztu present in the first editions of Meditaciones del Quijote. The first part seeks to reconstruct the state of the art in studies on the various levels of contrast between Ortega and Maeztu (generational, political and cultural), while the second part delves into two interpretations of Don Quixote that imply even more radical differences.
