La regia teatrale di Andrea Camilleri segna un nuovo passo nella rivoluzione già inaugurata da LuigiPirandello e da Eduardo de Filippo, e prima di tutti da Eschilo: il palcoscenico è luogo fisico e metafisicodella parola, del corpo e della trasmissione di un messaggio in chiave metaforica. Ma questa, in qualchemodo, appare come la vera missione di ogni maestro. In questo senso allora la regia camilleriana è regiapedagogica e gesto altamente educativo in quanto curvata sulla dinamica ermeneutica che interpella sial'autore e sia il pubblico.
